What to Bring
Your suitcase should contain your personal items, such as a robe, slippers and grooming/toiletry articles. Please do not bring any electrical equipment. It is prohibited for use inside the hospital. Electrical devices include, but are not limited to, hair dryers, razors, radios, heating pads and curling irons.
Please limit the valuables you bring to the hospital. If you wish, you may use your own nightgown or pajamas. We ask that maternity patients leave the suitcase in the car or at home, until after the baby is delivered.
Valuables (jewelry, dentures, glasses, contact lenses, etc.):
Please refrain from bringing valuables to the hospital. We strongly recommend that you send valuables home or have them placed in the hospital safe. The hospital is not responsible for your personal belongings. Do not bring jewelry, credit cards, keys or money in excess of $20.
When not in use, keep dentures, glasses, hearing aids and contact lenses inside the bedside drawer in clearly labeled containers. Ask your nurse for our special denture cup. Please do not wrap your dentures in napkins and place them on meal trays or under your pillow where they could be mistakenly discarded.
Medications
Hospital policy prohibits the use of any medications brought from home. Your physician will make sure you have all the medications you need. If you have medications with you, please have a family member take them home or ask the nurse to send the medications to the hospital pharmacy to be stored until your discharge. There are some exceptions, such as birth control pills. Please review all your home medications, including complimentary therapies, with your nurse.
