Before venturing out to the Midwest for medical school and a pre-doctoral fellowship in osteopathic manipulative medicine, I taught test prep for Kaplan Educational Centers. I love both northern and southern California (for completely different reasons!), but ultimately, I love to travel. KCOM gave me the opportunity to see more of the country during clinical rotations in Ohio , Michigan , and Maine , as well as other states. I decided on family medicine because of its variety, and plan to integrate OMM into my practice. In addition to traveling and OMM, my interests include yoga, tennis, cooking, and rooting for my hometown basketball team, the Sacramento Kings.

Profile: Profile: After completing my chemistry degree at UC San Diego, I never dreamed I would end up in healthcare. In 1999, I took a job as a plumber while I decided my career path. After volunteering in the ER at a local trauma hospital, I was attracted to the human aspect of caring for the sick and diseased. As my perspective on medicine has evolved during the course of my medical training, I have enjoyed the challenge of determining the underlying cause for a disease, and the ability (if possible) to treat that patient. I also enjoy "teaching" the patient about his or her disease, and giving them their own personal "game plan" for defeating that disease process. This enables them to understand their diagnosis, and gives them some empowerment to help in the healing process. As a native of Southern California ( Downey , actually), I was naturally drawn back here to the great weather and fantastic opportunities that I grew up with. There are a couple of things that DRMC family medicine provides. You get a great foundation in internal medicine, and it integrates OMM into the curriculum. There is also a lot of freedom to pick electives as well. On a personal note, my wife and I live in Torrance , a suburb of L.A. We enjoy the beach, cooking, reading, and sports. We don't have any children yet...but that may happen--sometime. I also enjoy playing the piano and the guitar. My musical tastes span from bluegrass to classical, and everything in between. I also have a weakness for classic American cars. My career plans are still evolving, but I hope to practice in the Southern California area.

Profile: I was born in Downey (at this hospital). At the age of 11, my mom transported us up to Washington and I reluctantly fell in love with the Northwest. I am happiest in the outdoors and prefer anyplace lush and green. I have been enjoying the weather in SoCal, live 2 blocks from the beach and try and get out to the strand whenever possible to run, rollerblade or bike. I also love to play tennis and beach volleyball with our residents. In the winter and spring, I am up in the mountains whenever possible and ski up at Mammoth. When I am home, I practice Yoga, love to cook, watch movies and read. When I am done I am looking at heading back to the NW ( Portland or Seattle). My ideal practice will be an integrative and holistic approach to health care. I want to continue using OMM and emphasize preventative care and patient education.

I enjoyed living in Northern California but missed the warm SoCal weather, my friends and family. So after finishing medical school, I moved back to southern California and started my Family Practice residency at Downey Regional Medical Center . After residency, I am hoping to practice family medicine in LA or Orange county area. During my free time, I enjoy mostly outdoor activities. My favorite things to do in the summer are playing volleyball at the beach and outdoor tennis. For the winter, it is snowboarding and going to my spinning class in the gym.

Profile: I was born in Downey (at this hospital). At the age of 11, my mom transported us up to Washington and I reluctantly fell in love with the Northwest. I am happiest in the outdoors and prefer anyplace lush and green. I have been enjoying the weather in SoCal, live 2 blocks from the beach and try and get out to the strand whenever possible to run, rollerblade or bike. I also love to play tennis and beach volleyball with our residents. In the winter and spring, I am up in the mountains whenever possible and ski up at Mammoth. When I am home, I practice Yoga, love to cook, watch movies and read. When I am done I am looking at heading back to the NW ( Portland or Seattle). My ideal practice will be an integrative and holistic approach to health care. I want to continue using OMM and emphasize preventative care and patient education.
