DRMC Ambulance Services
As an Ambulance Provider licensed by the State of California, Downey Regional Medical Center (DRMC) Ambulance Services provides patients with non-emergency transports. We provide quality patient care and transportation from incorporated areas of Los Angeles County for:
- Patients of DRMC who are discharged to their home or other medical facilities
- Physicians requesting transport of a patient from their offices to DRMC
- Physicians requesting transport of the patient from the patient's home to DRMC
- Physicians requesting transport of a patient from another hospital to DRMC
- Physicians or DRMC staff requesting necessary in-bound transports.
This service is intended for patients who are stable (non-urgent) yet have health conditions requiring medical assistance, and whose condition or treatment does not allow him or her to travel using public transportation. A patient is eligible for DRMC Ambulance Service if, at the time of transport, one or more of the following conditions apply:
- The patient requires continuous IV Infusion and monitoring
- The patient requires oxygen before, during and after transport
- The patient requires medical supervision during transport
- The patient needs to be restrained, is combative, or has a psychiatric condition that requires medical supervision.
- The patient requires procedures that are not available at this facility
- The patient requires suctioning during transport, or head elevation
- The patient requires infectious or isolation precautions
- The patient must remain immobile due to fracture and required special skills to maintain immobility and/or positioning
- The patient is bed-confined and may be unable to get up from his or her bed without assistance, is non-ambulatory without assistance, and cannot sit up in a wheelchair without assistance
- Transfer due to the facility’s bed availability.
